I’m giving this item one star because I can’t submit the review without a rating. Otherwise I would give it no stars since I have no desk to write about. I had to return it both times and I was really looking forward to having this desk at home. I really liked the look of the desk and still do. It took me awhile to find one that I was happy with and when I received the first one, not only was the box damaged (which I know can happen in transit) but there were no instructions, the package of screws was open, it had a scratched surface and a screw still inside one of the holes (it looked like someone had returned the desk). Called “Home & Living” customer service, they had it picked up and shipped another one to me. Again, upon receipt, no instructions and there were missing pieces (I was able to find the instructions online and that’s how I knew that pieces were missing). I returned it and decided against getting another one. According to customer service – they have no control because it comes straight from the manufacturer. But since I bought it directly from Home & Living, I hold them responsible. They should take whatever steps to ensure that the manufacturer is shipping out items in tact. I will not be buying from Home & Living again.

One thing for H&L Customer Service – they were great. I had no problems with returning the items and getting my credit issued.

    2. Desk wasn’t here on time, so I emailed CS. It apparently was damaged in shipping, so they sent it back to the manufacturer and sent me a new one. It was a little bit of a long wait. Roomate ordered the same desk 2 days after I ordered mine, and his got here in fair condition with a dent in the black finish and a bend in one of the legs, nothing serious though. Mine got here and had a chip in the black finish, but I covered it up with a cloth. Won’t be ordering from Home and Living again unless they fix their shipping problems. Took a month to get the damaged desk, and that’s just bad service.

But the desk is great! Sturdy, sleek design, very nice looking.

We have this table for about six month and have liked it a lot. It is light weight made of aluminum frame and good quality plastic shelves.

The hutch two three tier type design provides a good amount of space to keep printer, photo frames etc. The design is quite ergonomic with a lot of functionality. We recommend this computer desk.

Very nice, sturdy, good looking desk. Nothing is plastic about it like one reviewer mentioned. It’s made of metal and wood, and the main desk part has a special coating on it for desks. There is a hidden compartment below the shelf where the monitor belongs on the right side that spins around and reveals a place to put pencils and such, it’s VERY loud and makes popping and snapping sounds when you turn it, it’s kind of annoying. But other than that, good desk.

We bought this desk years ago for my son’s room and it is very sturdy and has held up well. The shelves hold A LOT of items, such as printers, pencil holders, decorations…. We use the area below the monitor for the keyboard, instead of the pull out drawer. This key board area is roomy (about 12″ deep), and might even accommodate a small lap top.

The monitor area is best for a thin monitor, but will accommodate a small thick one. It (the monitor area) measures 12″ deep x 20 1/4″ wide x 19 1/2″ high. It is a great desk for the money.

If you use the area we do for the keyboard, it allows plenty of room for a rolling chair under the desk. I also have room with the keyboard holder attached.

Here is my update: Just ordered another one. Still like it a lot, but allow about 4 1/2 hours (maybe more) to put together.
