I got this for my girlfriend. She previously had a D-Link card that was nothing but trouble. We were constantly uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Our home network consisted of a D-Link wireless router that crapped out after about 8 months. I decided to replace it with the Belkin MIMO router and matching card and we’ve never been happier with our network. We installed the software once and never had to fool with it again. Best of all, this card was less than [...]! One word of advice, if you pair up the Belkin MIMO router and card, use the regular WPA security encryption rather than the WPA2. It’s much easier to set up and doesn’t freeze. I run a MacBook with Airport on the network and I was even having problems with the WPA2 setting.

I purchased the Belkin F5D9010 for use with a last-generation notebook.

I keep my home network secure using WPA2. The Belkin software, while it has WPA2 as an option, could NOT connect to my network with WPA2 active (while my Wii and a desktop machine with a PCI 802.11g card have no problem at all). There is also a flaw in setting the key: a hexadecimal key can be entered, but the alphanumeric choice is greyed out. I tinkered with it until I found that if I selected WEP, I could then select alpha for the key, which would stick when set back to WPA2. Still no joy.

I poked around using Device Manager, and found that the Belkin driver had a Ralink copyright. I found the Ralink web site, and downloaded a generic driver set. While it looks like the icons were drawn by a 10-year-old, that software works great, and includes a nice signal vs. time graph. WPA2 setup was trivial with the Ralink software, and the card connects in just a couple of seconds.

I have been very happy with the card’s operation; it is very sensitive, and hasn’t dropped a connection yet.

If Belkin would actually test their software, I would give this item five stars.

Installed and connected to my network in no time, no problems at all and has better reception than my previous adapter (Netgear)

I had a little bit of difficulty setting it up, but that was because I didn’t read the directions at first. Had I, it would have been a piece of cake.

This adapter worked great once I got it going, and has worked nearly flawlessly ever since. Only once in two months has it abruptly quit, but I was able to start it back up immediately and from then on it worked fine.
